Is Ocean Springs High School still being used as a shelter? My parents, Jack and Nena Mullenger at 290 Holcomb Boulevard, just down from the high school did not evacuate. I wonder if they are in their home or at the HS and unable to communicate. Thanks, Robert Mullenger 650-279-5612

MY PARENTS ARE OK! A friend of my brother's headed back to MS from Atlanta today heading home to Moss Point. She went to Ocean Springs to my parents house to check on them and sent text messages from the house saying that they are fine and heading out of town tomorrow. I will continue to pray that all of you get good news about your loved ones, too. MIKE and ANNE, you are Angels! Thank you for the constant updates.

re: Ocean Springs beach and Martin
I talked with a friend who has family in O.S. They are saying the apartments where I used to live (at the intersection of Front Beach Drive and Martin on the beach) are flattened.
I believe they were formerly D'Iberville apartments and now Ocean Pointe.
Hope this helps.

Two of my sisters have been able to get a signal out for a few brief minutes today and yesterday. This is what I have heard. Homes on front beach, east beach and bell fountain are gone as if they were never there. Homes further back from those have a lot of damage. Ft Bayou bridge on washington ave is open to traffic. Most of Gulf Hills is gone. A lot of damage to homes in Windsor Park area with those closest to the water sustaining the most damage as you would expect with this type of storm. One of my brothers lives out on Apple Rd by the volunteer fire dept at St. Andrews. His home was completely submerged and he spent a lot of time in the attic and in a trees. Homes around him are uninhabitable due to water damage from storm surge. My mother and two sisters live in woodhaven which is by the hospital off Old 90. That area seems to have missed the bullet and damage is shingles off roofs and trees down for the most part.

One of my friend's has a house on Linda Drive and is being told that it is OK, just missing a back porch and door to a shed.
The Research Lab is reportedly gone, no confirmation on that. Here are some other notes my friend sent me via communication with people there.
* She's heard that almost everything along Front and East beaches are either gone, or severely damaged.
* She has family living inthe apartments behind (south of ) Ocean Springs High School and their apartment is OK.
* Gulf Park Estates is pretty much destroyed, St. Andrews in piles of rubble. * Other reports of the ship yard washed cleart.
