we just got back to Texas with my brother and his family. today at the base of the bridge between biloxi and o.s- a whole lot of tree damage but not much water damage. lights are still out. no gas anywhere. As soon as we left La. and crossed the state line, we couldn't find any stores open at all. If you don't have a way to bring gas with you, don't go. there were gas station lines a mile long from as far as Opelousas. God Bless you all.

Hi, I'm looking for Wesley and Susan Toche and their daughters, Sarah, Katie, and Aimiee. Their house was on Jefferson Davis Ave. in Biloxi. I don't know if they evacuated or not.

We traveled down 63 to Pasgagoula to 90 in O.S. Friday morning. We drove straight down hwy 90 to Wahington st near the base of the bridge. There was alot of wind damage but most buildings are still standing. Dont give up just because you havn't heard from your families. Most of the phone communications are down. Try to send a text message. Those seem to be getting thru quicker than phone calls. Some of the stores have opened up to let people by canned goods and they are able to get ice and food from red cross.

Just heard from my sister in law last night. She stays at the Chateau Bayou apartment complex (from message #483). She stated that she rode out the storm in her apartment, just fine. Water, power and phones are now on, although phone is sporadic. She is on the same block as the hosptial so that is why she had power so quickly. of the 148 apts in her complex, hers and one other were undamaged- not even broken glass. Even her vehicle was untouched. Those with damage to their apt were bunking down with those who were okay and they were taking care of each others needs in the building. Some fraill and elderly are there and they are being looked after by the more able bodied. She said the Walmart was open for business and that some places are a mess and right next door is perfectly fine. Hard to figure, but hope this helps some who are loosing hope. Keep praying for your loved ones as well as everyone else's. For those of us who are watching from afar, all I can say is don't forget the collection plate on Sunday am, because we are TRULY blessed!

Those of you with family and friends around OS, DO NOT GIVE UP praying and hoping. We just returned from there last night and found the place in good shape considering the circumstances. We did NOT see or even hear of death while we were there. The media has created panic. Pepole there simply cannot communicate with the outside due to down lines. They can't get out because there is no gas. DON'T write your loved-ones off. The roads are fairly clear for the most part. If you go, carry plenty of gasoline. E-mail us if you have any questions or need additional info. GOD BLESS US ALL!!!!!

Dr. Callahan of the OSSD (vice-principal of Magnolia Park)said Sept 15th if the power gets back on. Rumors are rife and causing ppl distress. Jeff said a lot of the areas are good, have electric etc. Don't give up hope and take everything with a grain of salt until you hear from an official source.
Peace,
Judy

I found it, on the sun herald board:
Hi, my name is Teresa Callahan. I am assistant principal at magnolia park. I can tell you that you can go back to the coast--but there is no power, gasoline, water etc. The roads are open, but you better have a full tank of gas. Pecan Park and Oak Park sustained significant damage. Magnolia Park appears to be structurally in tact. The middle school wasn't damaged at all. The high school for the most part is fine. The roof to the gym was damaged. No information about when we will go back--but I do know getting power to the schools will be a priority. Anna Hurt was going to meet with SDE officials this next week. Hope you are all ok.
I couln't remember where I had read it, and it bugged me so I searched, lol

I have just heard from my brother, who has been "missing" since Sunday from Ocean Springs. He is alive and well and never left his home on Monticello Blvd. He said they chose to "ride it out" but we are uncertain as to the extent of damage he has faced. He has been text messaging to us and today for the first time was able to call from a phone (cell?) They have 2 feet of water in their home, severely damaged outside; don't know condition of neighbors or neighborhood but wanted all of you who are looking for family members or friends from that area, that it is possible they are still in their homes as well, but unable to communicate. DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE! KEEP YOUR PRAYERS ALIVE! Mine were definitely answered!

Would appreciate any information about utilities in St Andrews. We are in Arkansas now and don't want to make the trip down until we can start cleaning up the house. A big thanks to all who have answered questions, both on the message board and via email. Dema Magers MiltDemaM@aol.com
