St Andrews was hit with water. My parents on Braeburn had about 2 feet of water. The houses on Tantalon nearest the bayou/estuary were destroyed. I can't think of one house on that street that looked like anyone could live in it. The apartments nearest the tenth hole had enough water to blast out their doors. I did not notice water lines on the apartments across from them (700's and so on). If you are going to return here, bring food, water, buckets of water for bathing and gasoline. The road in is fine. I hope your house had little damage. To quote a neighbor, "That boat in my front yard is not mine."

My cousin Diane Spisak and her husband Jim live (d) at 102 Braebrun in St Andrews Estates. They evacuated to Tunica Resorts in MS so I know they are safe. They have no way to get news. Is I disagreeumption correct that the all the houses in the Estates are gone? Is that street being bulldozed? JBWOLFNM@comcast.net JoBeth, the postings here are not accurate for the entire St. Andrews area. Dana and I both went over to the house. It had about 2 feet of water in it. It is sewage. The downstairs is ruined. We pulled carpets and tossed molded clothes on Friday. There were houses destroyed on a street closer to the water. Otherwise, most of the houses appeared to have flooded.

???Has anyone heard anything about West Bell Fountain Beach Road. We have a vacation set for October and I'm worried now that our vacation is up the creek. I know this is small worry compared to others but I would still like to know so we can change our plans if needed. Thanks. I will check the board later. I am sorry to say that from St Andrews, it looked as if the beach was cleared of any houses. It was a strange site especially since we were standing so far away among other wiped out homes. Sorry about your vacation. Plan on another one soon. The area is bound to come back hard and heavy. :)

Hoping someone has some info about the Don Welch family that lived in St. Andrews? I understand that the whole area has been leveled. One street was basically wiped out, Tantalon nearest the water. However, the rest of the homes were in good condition considering some had several feet of water in them. Mold Central!

Do you know if the OS post office survived and whether or not the are open? Thanks! I KNOW THAT THE USPS QUIT ACCEPTING MAIL FOR THIS ZIP CODE BECAUSE I TRIED TO MAIL LETTERS THINKING THAT THEY COULD GET THERE BEFORE ELECTRICITY OR PHONES WERE TURNED BACK ON AT THE BEGINNING OF THE WEEK. THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTING MAIL FOR NEW ORLEANS EITHER SO NOT SURE WHAT THAT REALLY MEANS..

My Husband, Jeff, and a couple of his friends left for OS in the middle of the night last night. I called our house in Beverly Place last night and the answering machine picked up, so we have electricity. They took the digital camera, so when they get back I will post the pictures asap. So many conflicting reports, it will be a relief to KNOW something for ourselves. I am a teacher at OSMS and I am worried about our neighbors (some of whom stayed)co-workers (one of jeff's stayed and she lived on Point Cadet, we are praying she didn't stay there during the storm) and of course, my students.
Our prayers are with everyone there and any news they bring back I will post.

I am looking for any information anyone can provide about the state of the homes on Eliott place, a small dead-end street off of Betchel blvd. One of my closest friends lives there, and although she and her family (the Reesman family) are safe, they are also pretty much cut off from the outside world, and can't get back to their home. I would love to be able to let them know how their house fared.
To make matters even better, the place where their hose shoulc be is covered up by a cloud on NOAA's satellite images. That's really quite frustrating.

I know him, but have not heard anything. Some people are shetlering at the middle school. Land lines are up in many places, and I have had better luck with those than spotty cell service. Also, text messages are getting through most of the time. Knowing him he has that capability.

d A note for my last message: the picture where i circled the condos is the same as the one from the above link. So if you can't zoom in close enough on the picture I did, use it to help you navigate the picture on the noaa site above where u can zoom in really close. Good luck! Aisha, My ex-wife lives on 1 golfing green dr unit 1102, would you have any word on the apts condition? Her name is Dawn Belcher. Thanks!! Drew The condos on that side had severe water damage. There are many families camping out there. I didn't see any marks on the pavement to indicate that there were any fatalities in that area. I'd bet she is all right, maybe hot and miserable if she is hanging out there.

They got there fine. House is standing, unlooted, and sustained minor damage to shingles, siding, soffet, etc.
Fences are toast, as are many screened in porches and add-ons.
We have electricity, water (sewers are overflowing, but they decided it was better for ppl to have water, and boil than no water i guess.) Trees are down. but since we have underground lines and are so close to the hospital, we have electricity and phone.
Pictures are being taken, I will figure out how to post them hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the info. We, as have all others, are having little luck with contacting anyone. I will relay this to her mom and family.

All the houses on Magnolia Bayou Blvd are said to be in good shape - missing a few shingles, some trees down in the area. I believe power and water has also been restored there.
