My house on Barnacle was demolished. It was in flood zone C 25 feet above sea level. My insurance was through Lemon Mohler (homeowners and windstorm). I was told at Lemon Mohler that "there is nothing for you here" because I did not have flood insurance. Looking for info on what FEMA or other agencies have told anyone else. Is there going to be a fight with the insurance companies over their claim that this was a flood, not a hurricane? Very confusing how helpful people want to be when you are giving them your money.

KMM, I'm on Mermaid, same story, USAA is still deciding. I do have friends that say Allstate is considering surge as result of wind....We have an application with FEMA and have started SBA disaster assistance paperwork. Online is easiest for FEMA. Make sure that you claim "Flood". If I hear anything else, will pass it on.

Hey all.
I did not read through all of the messages, but I had a little information for anyone who needs it.
I live in Arlington, Texas now, but my entire family still lives in Ocean Springs.
Brumbaugh Road which I would guess is about .5 miles from the beach was hit hard with flooding. My grandma lives at the corner of Brumbaugh and Seymour. If you have ever been that way it is very high on a hill. She had flood water to about 5 feet on her walls. Everything on the inside is destroyed.
I have a friend who lives on Dogwood and she had the same happen.
My uncle lives on the West side of Brumbaugh and his house was completely flooded as well.
All of these houses that I mentioned remain, but the contents inside were all destroyed.
My aunt and cousin who live just a little East of St. Andrews:
My aunt's home was flooded and everything was destroyed. I believe her street name is Orange Street.
My cousin's house was in bad shape as well (I don't know the name of her street, but it is just a few streets south of the aunt I wrote about above), one of her rooms is separated from the house. I think there was extensive damage to the rest of the house due to flooding, but I am not really sure. We haven't really spoken about the rest of the house.
My oldest sister's home was destroyed by the flood. She lives on Oyster Shell in Gulf Park Estates. Only the back of the house remains.
The ones that were ok:
Warbler in Gulf Park Estates North in Wood Haven Linda Circle just off of Halstead
That is all of the information that I have so far. I hope it helped someone. This is no guarantee that the other houses surrounding these listed were either damaged or undamaged, but I thought it might help.
You can always email me as most of my family are back in the area: Linzola79@hotmail.com

I have a friend that lives on Redbud Ct and she said that they can see where the water got to 7 feet inside their home. Her exterior walls are still standing, but interior is gone as well as her front and back door. She tells horror stories of those that stayed thru the storm and were forced out of their homes because of rising water and their homes being ripped apart only to be saved by compassionate, brave neighbors. I am writng from Texas, I left ocean Springs last summer. Know that our hearts and prayers are with all of you. Does anyone have any information about the Pine Hurst Subdivision near St. Andrews? My address is 7016 oakhurst Drive. I can't find any information about it and every little bit helps. Thanks! matthumm23@yahoo.com

My sister lives in Ocean Springs on Dewberry St. This is towards the back of Ocean Springs. She said there is minimal damage to her house other that some lost shingles. I believe her subdivision is at the end of Bienville Rd. Good luck to the ones closer to the water...she was lucky since it was farther back and they only caught the high winds.

Hi all, We just visited the Ocean Springs area via the Hwy ten to hwy 57. To ninety towards WalMart.. All is well there we suffered little damage to any homes in the area including moblie homes in the Highland park area. There is shingles missing and siding missing and some have all things intact. They have electricity and running water and things are better there than at my friends in Picayune.. So pray for everyone they were gotten out safely. They do not allow us where they are trying still to collect the many bodies still uncollected in the area.. God be with all those who lost it all including loved ones.. Traffic in the area is so bad that it is inhibiting the rescue that is still ongoing down there.. Hugs and prayers.. Angel

Our mayor seems to be more worried about the oak trees then helping us knock on doors to find missing loved ones?
According to Mayor Connie Moron... These are the ONLY two statements I've heard from her...
"we need to get crews out there to place dirt around the oak trees before we loose them..."
"I feel guilty that I now have a beach view home where I didn't before the storm"
