I have it on relatively good authority that Lakeview S/D (behind new salvitti bros) is in very good shape.

Sorry, I should have been a little more specific...the last 4 or 5 houses on the W side of south end of Beachview were slabs. My husband was there yesterday and said that it looked as if a tornado had gone through that part of the neighborhood also.

Could you help see if the houses are still standing on Deer Street, which is off Barnacle. I'm talking about the houses which are south of Barnacle but at the top end.

Any more information about the Gulf Oaks Condominiums? My grandmother is safe but we were wondering about her condo which is of course on the Front Beach... Hey Fletch - here's the latest from mom & dad (had voicemail from mom a little while ago): My mom left a voicemail on my wife's cell phone just a little while ago, and they've made it back to their house (Ridgeview Dr in Gulf Park Estates). Apparently, they've made it out to Gulf Oaks too, because they had info on my grandmother's (Virginia Lamke) unit. They said she had about 2 ft of water, and lots of mud in the unit, but that things were salvageable - however, they said most of the other units looked really bad (for reference my grandmother was in #69 - the back side of the complex, facing away from the beach, pretty close to the middle of the row). I may get to talk to my parents first-hand tonight & if I do, I'll try to get more details. Looks like I'll probably head down on Friday/Saturday & will provide updates as possible.

Houses on Iberville and Sunset reported OK. Downtown Ocean Springs - Washington, around Government reported OK with the exception of fallen trees, power lines, etc. Government Street, behind YMCA neighborhood, reported OK, Ridgeview Drive, near Gulf Park Estates, a few houses on bayou had 2-3 feet standing water and tree damage. Shearwater Drive (sound side) houses either destroyed or severly damaged. Homes along East Beach and Front Beach lay in ruins. Yacht Club gone. This information I received from WLOX.com open forum and from friends who stayed and "rode" out the storm. I hope this offers some hope. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone along the gulf coast. Go to WLOX.com for aerial shots of area and more info. -jsheslow

Gulf Park Estates at the Marina and south suffered major damage. Neptune is mostly slabs, Seacliff, slabs and pilings, South Beachview-slabs, Home on Mermaid 5th in on south side 1st house with a front, the previous 4 are slabs or framing or just E/W walls-major storm surge/wave action in a Zone C 23ft elevation area. Home on Eastland (south Bechtel) okay, Magnolia Bayou ok, exept for houses immediately on water. What about N 7th street near there, between Edgewater and Spring? How did those houses fair. I have one there and want to know if I can go back to try to salvage anything?
