???Has anyone heard anything about West Bell Fountain Beach Road. We have a vacation set for October and I'm worried now that our vacation is up the creek. I know this is small worry compared to others but I would still like to know so we can change our plans if needed. Thanks. I will check the board later. Are you serious lady? People have lost everything and you are worried about your vacation?

I live in Destin Florida and my brother, Mike Tassin, lives in Ocean Springs. Mike and his family evacuated here to my parents' home, but Mike took off at 7 am this morning determined to reach OS. It is 9:45 pm and he has JUST gotten home. I told him everyone was desperate for info so here goes: He lives in Bienville Place, a subdivision south of Walmart. (I think it is about 3 miles north of the Gulf). His house and most of the houses in his neighborhood are OK - some shingle loss, some roof leaks into the house, downed trees, but not too bad!! Whew. Of course, there is no power, no water. His house did not flood at all. He was able to drive straight through Pensacola (where he gassed up) and into OS. Coming home he had to go Hwy. 90 to Pascagoula and then up to I-10. Hope that makes sense. I saw the email about Highland Park and he said he didn't see it, but did see the neighboring subdivision, "Lakeview" and it look pretty good minus a few shingles and siding and trees. Power lines are down everywhere. The sad news is that the first two blocks in from Front Beach Road are destroyed from what he could see. He went to Oak Park Elementary and it fared pretty well. He met up with a teacher and her daughter, who is also a teacher, and they had heard that the school will hopefully open up in two weeks. Magnolia Park and Pecan Park had minor damage. My nephew Logan goes to Taconi - it had minor damage. Mike works at Keesler at the Hospital. It got hit pretty hard. What else - oh, i asked about Fort Bayou Estates - he said he knew of one house that got a little water in it, but that it was one of the ones in the lowlying area. Mike says there are still mobile homes standing - some are twisted, but still standing. Ocean Springs Hospital seems in tact. I told him that info on OS is basically non-existent, so I hope this helps some of you!! If you have any specific questions, post them here and i will call Mike tomorrow and see what he can remember. You are all in our prayers and Mike says this community will recover and thrive!

Thanks for this update! If Mike went through Pascagoula and/or Gautier, could he give us an idea of how they fared? Just like OS, there's no info coming out of those two towns. Thanks again. Hoping someone has some info about the Don Welch family that lived in St. Andrews? I understand that the whole area has been leveled.

Hi Daniel Beacham, YOU ARE SOOO WELCOME! Mike just drove right into Bienville Place. When he left this morning he had taken a few days of supplies and an old bike in case he had to park the car and jump over trees, etc. But he drove right up to the house. In fact, he said his house probably was one of the worst hit, but it wasn't really that bad. No real structural damage in the neighborhood that he could see. It is late now and i know he is dead tired, but i will call him in the morning and try and get more info. Thinking of all of you!! Anne

My uncle Robert PARDUE and aunt live on Government Street and and were staying with her parents MYRICK near the old high school during the storm. I don't have an exact street name unfortunately. I have been on all of the local message boards all day, Gulfcoastnews.com has a list for you to add anyone that you may or may not know the status of.however, now that CNN announced it, i am unable to get back onto the website. I had a relative from Gautier go to Gulf Park Estates to check on my missing aunts house. He started to cry when he thought she was there. He said if she is,she is gone.last we heard she was at a shelter at a school that she teaches at,possibly St. Martin, but i cant get any info on that now..we are beyond worried. My whole family in Ocean springs, hattiesburg, state line have been devastated by this.My other aunt had a home ON SIOWAN, NEAR EAST BEACH,it is completely obliterated..nothing sounds promising for that area.I pray that most of them got out.My aunt is Judy Breazeale,in case anyone knows or hears anything. please email me at Iluvanumskull@hotmail.com since it can be hard to access these pages at times

I really can't believe that someone is so insensitive as to worry about her vacation being "up the creek". I have cried all day after hearing stories of bodies floating around the area. Have a heart.this is more than a vacation spot. this is our home, our families.these communities are full of some of the best people you will ever meet.

Can anyone tell me what the Beach Blvd area is like following Hurricane Katrina? Unable to reach family due to phones being out. I have friends--Drs. Pat and Ernie Pinson-- who work at the Walter Anderson Museum. Does anyone know what damage the museum incurred?
