Can anyone tell me what the Beach Blvd area is like following Hurricane Katrina? Unable to reach family due to phones being out.

I have been getting little bits and pieces from people about Ocean Springs. My brother in law is leaving here (Panama city) at the crack of dawn to go and get an assessment of Ocean Springs especially the East beach area near the Lab. We live(D) on La branche ave south of 90 from the area of the Skate zone. I have heard that all homes on the beach from 90 bridge (area of Yacht club) are gone. A police officer friend of mine in pascagoula said there is pretty much nothing below 90 there. I am hoping that everyone in Ocean Springs got out safe. I got one tid bit from a friend who said that the tide in Ocean springs rose twelve feet before the surge came and the estimation of total surge to hit the beach was in the range of 35 feet. This is second hand from a friend so I can't put weight to it until my brother in law calls me back from Ocean Springs. I do know the police non emergency line is busy, the fire department line is not working, and the Acadian Ambulance service in OS is not working either. Please any one who knows anything please post here!

My Grandmother lives at 9009 West Simons Circle, Ocean Springs. We talked with Ray & Janet Lynn on Sunday evening the they refused to leave their home. She is 94 and Ray is blind. If anyone could give me information regarding that area of OS, or if they know anything about them, I would be so greatful.

Can anyone tell me what the Beach Blvd area is like following Hurricane Katrina? Unable to reach family due to phones being out. We live in lakeview subdivision (behind new salvetti bros) 1 mile east of walmart and we had info relayed to us from folks that stayed behind that there's very little damage where we live. supposedly our house had zero damage, but we can't confirm. I saw on the news that the biloxi-ocean springs bridge is gone--huge chunks are missing. I also saw that the bay st louis bridge is gone. We were also told that OS (like biloxi) has no electricity and likely no drinking water either. if anybody finds out anything, please post it here, if I hear anything else, I'll post it here.

:-/Looking for information about the Kensington area. Family of a friend lives there! The "Unknown" is some times more difficult to handle --thanks for this possible line of communication.

Attn: JOE ABELL - I saw your message re: Ocean Springs. We are desperately trying to get info about my brother's home in Highland Park. He's right down the road from Walmart also. I mapped the Salvetti Bros. restaurant and Gibson Road (where he is) is just west of there. Hoping and praying that he's got anything left at all. Please email me with any info you have about that area as we are in FL and can't get any word on anything at all. Thank you so much. Kim kjrandbkr@aol.com

Has anyone heard about the area around Halstead/Davidson close to the city park? My mother's home is there. She evacuated and is safe, thank God, but I would like to know if her home is still there.
